At the beginning of his career, Rui Aguiar was the tour photographer of bands such as Rio Grande, Ala dos Namorados and Autos & Pontapés. He created the album covers for Rio Grande (Dia de Concerto, 1997) and Ala dos Namorados (Live at S. Luiz, 2004)
He was invited by José António Tenente to create his collection’s catalogue and exhibition.
He has been invited by Paulo Macedo to be part of the first issue of Máxima magazine.
He shoots for major Portuguese magazine publications, Elle, GO and Vogue.
He works together with the French magazine, Mutten.
He was a winner of the Fujipress contest in the fashion category, on a national level, after which he represented Portugal at the international Fujipress contest and won an Honor Award.
He has made videos for Alexandra Moura’s fashion show and for DIF Magazine’s anniversary (at Lux club in Lisbon). Together with dj Nelson Flip he works (and has a residency) at Lux, Industria (Porto) and Via Latina (Coimbra).
He has had two solo exhibitions in the Lisbon Welcome Center
